Now that motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death among teen-agers, the spotlight on safe driving for teens is growing, especially with defensive driving in TX. Toyota recently announced a series of free safety clinics as part of its driving program for teens. Teen-agers with a learner’s permit or new driver’s license can participate in three locations, San Antonio, Texas; Torrance, California; and Denver, Colorado. Texas teens are among those who can pick up defensive driving skills for the roadways, helping them to be safe and stay safe.
The Toyota “On the Road” program in San Antonio for teens will be held on Saturday, June 8 through Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Toyota Texas Plant. The two-and-a-half-hour program will feature discussions, a road driving course and at-home follow-up project. Teens with learner’s permits must bring a parent. It is also open to new teen drivers. While teens are learning about vehicle safety, parents can learn about creative coaching, setting limits and encouraging good driving habits.
Toyota’s driving programs employ online and in-person tips and strategies to help young drivers learn good habits early. The safety clinics will be led by professional drivers and focus on defensive driving, crash avoidance, vehicle maintenance and safety features available on today’s cars, trucks and SUVs. Registration for the summer clinic in San Antonio began May 9, 2013.
Toyota isn’t the only vehicle manufacturer to offer teens and their parents safety programs. Ford Motor Company also encourages new and future drivers to learn about tire dynamics, vehicle dynamics and how to avoid life-endangering events. The traveling program is available for events throughout the country.
