Did you know that many auto insurance providers offer discounts for completing a defensive driving course?
The terms and conditions vary by each company, but the majority of companies offer a 10% discount for a three year period. To get the discount, most companies require that it be a TEA approved course, such as the one offered on our site.
Approved for Most Insurance Providers
If you would like to take advantage of these great savings, you should first contact your insurance provider to find out if they participate and whether you are eligible to receive the discount. They will inform you of their discount rates and procedures and where you need to send your certificate of completion once you have finish the course. Taking the course for insurance discount purposes will not prevent you from being able to take the course again in the future if needed to dismiss a ticket.
Taking the Course for Ticket Dismissal
You may also need the course for ticket dismissal purposes. If a Texas court or judge has given you this option, you can sign up for the course with us by choosing “ticket dismissal” as your reason for taking the course during registration. When you choose the ticket dismissal course reason option and complete the course, you will receive a certificate that contains both a copy for the court and also one for your insurance company if they offer a discount.
Taking the Course for Insurance Discount
If you selected “insurance discount” as your reason for taking the course, you will receive a single certificate to turn in to your insurance company. It is always a good idea to make a copy of this certificate for your records. Your insurance company representative will tell you how the discount will be applied to your policy.
